    Abstract

    ![CDATA[Evidence demonstrates that the model of maternity care ‘midwifery continuity of care’ has beneficial clinical outcomes for mother and baby. However, knowledge and understanding of the midwife–mother relationship premised in this type of care is difficult to translate into widespread practice. This study has been designed to gain insight into what happens in this continuity of care model and why it matters.
