Abstract

![CDATA[Salvia miltiorrhiza is a commonly used medicinal herb for treating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. It has diverse botanic and geographic origins in the herbal market. The quality of Salvia miltiorrhiza depends on the germplasm resources and the environmental and agricultural conditions under which it is grown. Various constituents with demonstrated biological activity have been identified from this herb. This article reviews the resources, cultivation, chemistry and biological activities of Salvia miltiorrhiza, in particular, its cultivation and medicinal applications.]]
