Abstract
Over the last decade, the concept of ‘digital citizenship’ has begun to supplant ‘cybersafety’ as a critical pillar of policy and programmes pertaining to the use of online and networked media. We argue here that coupling ‘citizenship’ with ‘the digital’ is a move brimming with promise for rethinking citizenship through the digital. And yet, this potential has gone largely unnoticed and untapped.
