RFID adoption issues in Australian retail supply chains : evidences from a case study and two mini surveys

    Abstract

    The purpose of this study was to examine RFID adoption issues within the Australian retail supply chain. A case study and two mini surveys were conducted to assess the RFID adoption issues from the perspectives of three key retail stakeholders: retailers, retailers' suppliers, and technology providers. The results of the case study were compared with the findings of the surveys. Jointly, the case study and survey results provided us understanding about RFID adoption issues. It presented evidences of potential benefits of RFID adoption in the retail industry and identified various issues that adversely impact RFID adoption which has been categorised as technological, cost related, organisational, and external factors.
