    Abstract

An increasingly important but often overlooked aspect of the volunteer experience is the tenuous position of the rights of the volunteer worker in the workplace. The question of adequate protection of volunteers is contentious and highly problematic. This article highlights some of the current issues relevant to volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations and offers some suggestions as to how the current situation may be improved.
