Abstract
![CDATA[To make fully use of the space of a water tank, this study proposes a novel composite tuned liquid damper (CTLD), which is composed of a tuned sloshing damper (TSD) and a tuned liquid column damper (TLCD). To reduce the sensitivity of the maximum displacement response of a slender structure, while subjected to uncertainty in its frequency, an optimization problem is presented to determine the geometry of the CTLD. Several cases with different structural frequencies are used to demonstrate availability of the proposed robust design of CTLD.]]
