abstract = "Welded thin-walled T-joints made up of circular hollow section (CHS) chords and braces were tested under constant stress amplitude fatigue loading, for the load {"}in-plane bending in the brace{"}. The tube wall thicknesses in the thin CHS-CHS T-joints were less than 4 mm. Existing fatigue design guides cover joints of thicknesses greater than or equal to 4 mm. The CHS tubes are high strength cold-formed steel. Using both the experimental stress concentration factors (SCFs) from previous research and parametric equation SCFs from existing fatigue design guidelines, the S-N data from the fatigue tests is expressed in the hot spot stress method. The resultant hot spot stress data is compared to existing hot spot stress design S-N curves. The deterministic method and the statistical method of least-squares are used to determine design S-N curves. The hot spot stress S-N data of the thin CHS-CHS T-joints is found to have lower than expected fatigue strength when compared to existing fatigue design curves.",
