Abstract
Prior to the anti-globalisation protests in Melbourne during September 2000 -- widely known as the "S11 protests" -- well known environmentalist and feminist Vandana Shiva presented a paper in which she suggested a need to "think global, act global" (Shiva, paper delivered 10 September 2000). This subtle change to the dictum previously recited as "think global, act local" marks a distinct change in the perceptions of environmentalists activists.
