Abstract
The problem of evil is certainly central within the mimetic theory pioneered by Rene Girard. However, despite the incisive claim by Girard himself that I chose as exergis of this chapter, to really understand what evil is in the interpretative universe advanced by Rene Girard – to mark, as it were, the borders of the problem and to highlight its connections, particularly those that are less evident – is not an easy task. In fact, even if we limit ourselves to the assertive claim mentioned above, the question arises: what is the metaphysical desire?
