Abstract

An efficient method for the oxidation of benzyl and secondary alcohols into corresponding benzaldehydes and ketones, respectively, with Jones reagent supported on graphite at room temperature under heterogeneous is reported. The present oxidations are completed within 10 minutes with the yield between 86-98%, except for some aliphatic alcohols like 1-pentanal and 1-hexanol. The present reagent is new, and it is an extension of the application for the Jones reagent as well.
