Abstract

Retirement is a major life transition that offers many opportunities for self-determination. In Australia, there is no compulsory retirement age, so workers need to make an active decision to retire. In this article we describe aspects of our Transition to Retirement (TTR) project (Wilson et al., 2010) and give examples of what individuals with lifelong disability did to begin to build a retirement lifestyle. We focus on participants who worked in sheltered employment.
