N2 - This research aims to improve indoor daylighting through a semi-passive design-based scheduling approach that adjusts optimized glazing Visible Transmittance (VT) to yearly daylight variations without real-time automations, addressing the limitations of fixed and smart glazing. Using Ladybug Tools (LBT) within the Grasshopper plugin of Rhinoceros, it evaluates the DL metric (320 lux ≤ well-lit area (%) ≤ 800 lux) for VT ranges (from 0.20 to 0.90), in a north-facing, side-lit modelled office of Sydney, Australia. Results reveal that while fixed VT in 0.70 range increases DL metric up to 7%, the proposed semi-passive scheduled variable VT further enhances DL metric to 21%, compared to the base case with a VT 0.90.
