Abstract
Many young people are beginning their sexual lives early. But how can they negotiate their sexual lives with both pleasure and safety? Sexuality education is common in many countries but, despite this, young people often feel this education fails to provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to negotiate sex ethically. Sex and Ethics: Young People and Ethical Sex, cultivated from interviews and research with people aged 16-25 from rural and urban Australia, argues for a new approach to sexuality and sexual assault prevention education based on developing skills in ethical intimacy. The long-term follow-up of the sexual ethics education program demonstrates a significant positive impact on young people's lives. Sex and Ethics will be of particular interest to sexuality and violence prevention researchers, educators and practitioners and all people who work with or care for young people.
