Abstract
This report examines the nature and magnitude of changes to sexual wellbeing after breast cancer, based on a research project conducted at the University of Western Sydney, commissioned by and in collaboration with Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). It is the largest single study focused on sexual wellbeing in breast cancer conducted in Australia and internationally, and as such, provides a unique insight into the experiences and concerns associated with changes to sexual wellbeing and intimate relationships after breast cancer. The information provided in this report illustrates the importance and consequences of such changes, and offers suggestions for prevention and amelioration of problems. The analysis of the experiences of health professionals working in the area of breast cancer provides insight into barriers to communication about sexual wellbeing, and identifies health professional information and support needs.
