    Abstract

Article in Video Swell Sydney published by Art Gallery of New South Wales, 2009. Over the decades, video art has produced a canon of auteurs and engaged viewers through compelling narratives, immersive environments and multiple layers of meaning. A perfect example of this is Shaun Gladwell's Storm sequence - an 8-minute singlechannel video that features the artist freestyling on his skateboard while the South Bondi surf pounds behind him.
