Abstract

Assessing crowd dynamics, particularly the spontaneous emergence of collective oscillations in dense human crowds, has direct implications for crowd management and safety. A striking parallel can be drawn between the movements in large crowds and the behaviours of cells observed in culture flasks under time-lapse microscopy.
