Abstract

This paper investigates the effect of voltage reflection on the motor windings in a drive system. This paper describes the phenomena, and the theoretical analysis based on transmission line theory. The system is modeled and simulated using transmission line theory. The simulation program establishes a relation between the rise time of inverter switching pulses, the parameters of cable, and the terminal voltage. Most simulation results are verified by experimental test results conducted in the laboratory. In addition, multi-motor drive systems are, also, investigated.
