Abstract
Information Technology (IT) is essential for today’s human life, either personal, business, academic, research, military, or any other sector. Therefore, it is essential to ensure the quality of IT products. This chapter contains three key sections: process quality management, structural quality management, and functional quality management. A majority of the process quality management contents are discussed in the chapter on schedule and cost management. However, one of the key quality management processes, namely, test management and related tools, is presented in this chapter. Tools for continuous integration and continuous deployment, performance testing, security testing, integration testing, compatibility testing, accessibility testing, and usability testing are discussed under structural quality management. The next section introduces tools for unit testing, smoke testing, sanity testing, functional testing, system testing, regression testing, acceptance testing, and product verification under functional quality management. Finally, a comparison of quality management tools is presented to provide direction on how to utilize the presently available tools for IT projects. The chapter has studied over 300 quality management tools available presently. This chapter will not be limited to the software for IT project quality management. The objective of this chapter is to provide a complete understanding of IT quality management with necessary theoretical concepts, practical applications, and how it can be applied to IT projects of any scale.
