Some generic competency issues to be considered by SME's embracing nanotechnology

    Abstract

    ![CDATA[Four Australian SMEs have participated in an action research project to explore practical opportunities emerging from developments in nanotechnology. They have traditionally acquired technology from equipment suppliers, but on this occasion, they are also considering possibilities available from research organizations. In this paper, a framework for identifying some generic competencies needed is developed. The repertoire is extensive, and generally beyond the scope of typical SME operations. Matters of absorptive capacity are discussed.]]
