    Abstract

    The article discusses the significant contribution of the 5E learning cycle lesson in studying sound in elementary science education in the U.S. The 5E teaching method aimed to teach science students on content, develop inquiry skills and learn the nature of science. It is comprised of Engage, which would stimulate the students' interest and ideas on sound, data collection and scientific explanations; Elaborate, the stage where students would investigate the causes of sound; Explain, the phase where students would convene for a class discussion on the data they have collated; Elaborate, in this stage the students would test their explanations for sound in a new context; and, Evaluate, the part where the students' understandings are assessed in relation to the objectives of the lesson.
