N2 - Social responsibilities carried by megaprojects are commonly in multiple dimensions and involve a much wider range of stakeholders than that in conducting corporate business or general construction projects. Effective commitments of social responsibilities in conducting megaprojects have thus been based on effective stakeholder communication and engagement. Urbanization process particularly in developing countries such as China have led to the implementation of large number of megaprojects such as highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, and others. Therefore, it is important to apply proper mechanisms to ensure that social responsibilities are committed in the process of implementing megaprojects. In the recent development of research, discussions on environmental and ethical topics of megaprojects have emerged. However, existing research literature on the subject of social responsibilities for megaprojects are very limited and fragmented. This special issue attempts to explore adaptable theories, methodologies, tools and solutions for ensuring that social responsibilities are committed in the process of managing megaprojects.
