    Abstract

    The rise of international disputes covering a plethora of commercial areas has led to dispute mechanisms and institutions specialising in specific areas. The arbitral institutions covered in this chapter include institutions for specialist subject matter (maritime, sports and intellectual property disputes), an institution for resolving disputes between private parties and states (in the area of investment) and an institution for settling disputes between states (in the area of trade).
