Abstract

This research paper is about controlling the speed of induction motors by combining voltage and frequency methods. The proposed variable speed drive consists of a rectifier section, filter section and inverter section. In addition, a three-phase voltage inverter with power IGBTs and sinusoidal pulse width modulation are used to vary both voltage/frequencies to achieve an efficient speed control method for three-phase induction motors. This research paper describes the principal operation of components used for the v/f control method. Moreover, MATLAB simulation results in different segments and characteristic curves are also obtained.
