    Abstract

![CDATA[In this paper, the safety factors in AS 5100 (Standards Australia 2004) for short concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns are calibrated based on the statistical method proposed by Johnson & Huang (1997). This method is applied to an extensive database developed by Tao et al. (2008) which has 929 CFST stub column test results covering a wide range of input parameters. A summary of the calibration procedure and the calibrated safety factors are provided. The reasons for the calibration results are discussed to provide useful insight and supporting information for a possible revision of AS 5100.]]
