Abstract
At the Samuel Beckett conference in Japan in 2006 I spoke with Stan Gontarski about the Journal of Beckett Studies. I had known Stan since the 2003 Beckett conference in Sydney though had met him earlier, and worked with him editing Beckett after Beckett, a publication that had its beginnings in that 2003 conference. Stan had confessed that he was looking to move on from his long term and successful role as the editor of JoBS, and I felt that it was important to keep the journal going and to establish it on a footing that would allow it to continue successfully into the future. For my part I feel my major contribution with regard to the Journal has been more or less logistical and administrative, though I do not think this is a small matter, and I am pleased to have been able to serve the field, which I am happy to say continues to thrive in no small part because of the strength of JoBS.
