Abstract
The Lesson Study professional development model is designed to assist teachers prepare quality lesson plans and consequently enhance their understanding of student learning in mathematics Years 7-12. A small group of teachers form a Lesson Study team and meet regularly to plan, design, implement, evaluate and refine lessons for a unit of work that they have selected. The process was implemented in first semester 2002 in 36 NSW departmental secondary schools from across the state and in second semester in another 41 schools. This paper briefly describes the program and deals with some aspects of its evaluation especially in terms of teacher learning.
