Abstract
This contribution examines the subgrouping of Indo-European according to the method of the Automated Similarity Judgment Program compared to consensus classifications. It shows that, despite its relatively crude approach, it replicates expert classifications surprisingly well, underlining the importance of new as well as traditional methodology.
