Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapterpeer-review

Abstract

The ALEA declaration states that“[becoming literate is based on an equitable
quality literacy education, one that is equitable for native and non-native speakers of English (Australian Literacy Educators Association [ALEA], 2023, p. 2). In this chapter, we explore some research informed creative practical strategies that acknowledge and build on students linguistic and cultural resources. These strategies comprise reading, viewing, comprehending, discussing, writing, designing and creating” and they positively affect students ’literacy skills while helping them “to represent and understand themselves and others”(ALEA, 2023, p.2).
