    Abstract

Irrespective of the setting, all areas of health care, including higher education institutions, require staff and sometimes students to work in teams. Teams are a fundamental component of any organization, and today’s team operates in a dynamic environment with all members being expected to identify changes, cause and effect relationships, and constructive responses (Randall, Resick, & DeChurch, 2011). Not only is positive teamwork needed to achieve workplace goals, but it is required for better morale, collaboration, problem solving, and improved consumer outcomes (Dellegar, 2010). All of these have the potential to impact on the organization’s reputation and enhance its ability to attract and retain staff.
