Abstract
Despite the importance of evidence-based practices, their translation into routine practices is often stymied by myriad factors. Although research on these challenges is found in the government and private sectors, it is limited within the third sector. To better understand knowledge translation in the third sector, this article examines the challenges of introducing an evidence-based tool to support consumers with mental health issues. Three factors hindered practitioner-use of the tool – organisational priorities, perceived tool redundancy, and a conf licted professional identity. This article examines these challenges and concludes with strategies to facilitate knowledge translation within the third sector.
