Abstract
Paramedics who have worked in both metropolitan and rural environments may have noted striking similarities between the type and number of cases that occur in those two environments. The origin of much of this differentiation in workload comes from how patients make decisions about their unscheduled care and this may rely on their social, cultural and geographic characteristics.
