    Abstract

The influence of student personality on their capability to learn and the environment in which they learn is not a new topic to the field of education. There is also a limited amount of research more directly considering personality traits of the teacher. However, there is little or no work that considers the interaction of teacher and student personalities and their resultant co-production of learning experiences. This paper outlines a recently commenced programme of research investigating how the personality of the teacher interacts with and impacts upon the personality of the student. From this will emerge greater understanding of the teaching dynamic as well as diagnostic tools to assist teachers and administrators in designing offerings that match student needs and teacher capabilities with reference to their personalities.
