Abstract
The notion of the self is introduced in Girard’s early works, which analyze the mimetic nature of human relationships through an exploration of the literature. Girard’s conception of the self displays influences from Alexandre Kojève, Jean-Paul Sartre, and French psychoanalysis, especially Jacques Lacan.
