Abstract
This paper discusses part of a larger qualitative study that examined the constructions of history and history education by community and education stakeholders who participated in the BOS consultation during the revision of the 1998 mandatory history Stages 4-5 syllabus. The paper reports on a conceptual analysis of debates in the literature and on empirical data involving interviews with key stakeholders involved in the 1998 BOS review.
