Abstract
This paper considers Paul Patton's discussion of the concept in Deleuze and Derrida in relation to the literary (a short-hand term for the performing arts, including literature, movies and visual arts). The concept for Deleuze and Guattari is unique to philosophy; it is the expressed of the pure event and as such it has the ability to reconceptualise the event and thus counter-effectuate the historical processes of the event. This paper engages in a redescription of the pure event and concept in relation to the aesthetic in order to consider the literary in relation to counter-effectuation.
