The imperative of water resources development and management in Pakistan : an analysis for better insight and policy

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperConference Paperpeer-review

Abstract

Pakistan faces the challenge of meeting the needs and aspirations of a very large population with very low natural and human resources. The natural resources, including energy and water are scarce in this semi-arid country. The water situation is likely to worsen with the melting of glaciers as an outcome of global warming. Rapid development, management and protection of water resources have to be an integral element in a suite of policies to be developed to meet the environmental challenges faced by Pakistan.
