    Abstract

The E26 deposit at Northparkes, New South Wales, has an array of secondary copper minerals significantly different from that described previously from the nearby E22 and E27 orebodies. The basic copper chloride atacamite and the rare mineral sampleite are both relatively common in E26. Clinoatacamite has also been confirmed in two specimens. These minerals are not found in the adjoining E22 or E27 deposits because of different groundwater geochemistry associated with the weathering of the deposits. Groundwater associated with E26 is much more saline.
