Abstract
This chapter examines the paradox of gendered holiness as found in Islamic mysticism. The role and status of women is further problematised in order to demonstrate the complexity of gender relations in Islam, more broadly. This, in order to address the androcentric contextualisation, and misogynistic conceptualisation, of women in relation to temptation as a barrier to holiness.
