Abstract

On November 25, 1840, the constitutional theorist and law professor
Friedrich Julius Stahl entered a hall at the University of Berlin to deliver his first
lecture at the prestigious institution. It was undoubtedly the high point of the
thirty-eight-year-old’s career thus far.
