Abstract

This project aims to understand how the Australian public may respond to radiological or nuclear incidents and assesses the psycho-social impacts such incidents may have on the psychological wellbeing of the Australian population. The findings of the research may provide useful information for emergency agencies on how they may prepare and respond to public responses to emergencies, as understanding how the public will react to such events is an important part of realistic planning. On a broader scale, the findings from this research may help emergency agencies to communicate, educate or heighten awareness of radiological and nuclear issues in the wider community.
