Abstract

Flow past two identical circular cylinders in a side-by-side arrangement at right and oblique attack at a Reynolds number of 500 is numerically investigated. The three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the Petrov-Galerkin finite element method. The focus of this study is to investigate the effect of flow approaching angle on the wake flow past two cylinders and switching phenomenon in the wake at gap ratio (G/D) as 1. The biased flow is bi-stable characterized by the biased direction of the gap flow switching from one side to another intermittently.
