    Abstract

Music by Diana Blom, poems by Tim Malfoy. Contents: The fisherman’s wife (2 min., 30 sec.) -- Trewella (3 min., 20 sec.) -- Lorelei (2 min.). Tim Malfroy is a poet, musician and beekeeper who lives in Rockley, west of the Blue Mountains. The three water ballads interweave the stories of the Lorelei, who lured men to their death, Matthew Trewella who fell in love with a mermaid and followed her to live in the sea, and his wife left behind to mourn his loss. Music from 'Trewella' forms the basis of The Whale's Song for cello and piano. The songs were written for, and first sung by, Emma Malfroy.
