Abstract

![CDATA[Synchronous reluctance machine is renowned for high torque ripples due to its complicated and non-linear magnetic path and saturation of rotor core segments during operation. Improving the ripples effects in the machine is imperative for high speed applications. This study investigates and propose methods to improve torque ripples and cogging torque of synchronous reluctance machine. Conventional method and mathematical analysis used by fellow researchers are revisited in this paper and its validity is investigated using FEM. Optimization techniques specially designed for SynRM is used to verify the torque ripples of couple of designs. Cogging torque of synchronous reluctance machine is estimated using FEM in order to verify and compare special scenarios.]]
