Abstract
What a crazy world we live in where the technologies that we produce to make life easier for ourselves now threaten not just our own existence as a species, but all of life on earth. What sort of improvement is that? What sort of global dangers with local consequences have we unleashed? More to the point, what are we doing about it? What have the scientists at the university got to say about all of this, and what are they teaching the young folk these days about the mess we're in?
