Abstract
The focus of this chapter is to provide a critical reading of the representations of the future at the expo. Although the expo frames the future as a common (singular) ‘aspiration’, through a focus on three pavilions, it will be shown that each frames the future in particular, and sometimes unanticipated, ways. These representations will be discussed in the context of Expo 2010’s promise to address the global challenges facing the world today.
