Abstract

With the local/global mobility of international students and trans-national knowledge workers, disparate education cultures engage around uneven power relations in nationally-grounded teacher education programs. This is evident in the increasing presence of World Englishes spoken by student-teachers, a phenomenon whose existence raises questions about absences in teacher education. Here we define World English Speakers as including those student-teachers who were born in Australia and those who have migrated to the country from anywhere around the world and use one or other variety of English as a first ot subsequent language.
