    Abstract

We are grateful for this opportunity to share some ideas. In the context of reflections on the processes of transformation in Latin America we have been developing a hypothesis, which is not only a theoretical analysis but also a reflection that has developed over the last ten years in exchanges, visits, experiences and practices within social movements and also with the processes of government in this region of the world. By interrogating Latin American processes within the overall framework of more general research on the transformation of capitalism and the political in the contemporary world, our work in these years was not in itself about Latin America yet inadvertently we became specialist "academics" in the region. However, this research has been and continues to be, strongly influenced by what we have learned in Latin America in recent years. One could say that our work has been greatly influenced or affected by Latin American experiences, even when referring to Europe or, for example, the United States.
