Abstract

EDITORIAL COMMENT - (Gestational diabetes mellitus has been a controversial are of obstetric care for decades. On the one hand, there are those who think GDM may not be worth screening and diagnosing. Even though most women in the United States were being screened for GDM by the 1990s, the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) deemed that screening for GDM was a D recommendation, meaning no evidence to support routine screening, and it might be harmful.
