Abstract
Composed in 2020 for Heaven to Earth Inspiration—a cross-cultural collaboration between Western Sydney University (WSU) and Seoul National University (SNU)—Two Faces features traditional Korean gayageum and prepared ‘two-sided’ electric guitar. The modified electric guitar has an additional pickup above the first fret, enabling amplification of both sides of the strings. For Beyond Area 21: from Sydney to Seoul, a live-streamed event on November 24, 2021, commemorating sixty years of diplomatic relations between Korea and Australia, the original extended version of Two Faces was performed by Eonhwa Lee (SNU) on gayageum playing alongside the guitar by Robert Moss recorded at WSU Kingswood Campus in 2020. The final revised version of Two Faces is now streamed globally.
