Understanding different journalisms

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter explores trends in journalistic training and newsroom practices of Arab journalists and investigative reporters. The author reflects on how journalists operate in negotiating a balance between the way they are trained on Western models and the way they practice journalism according to their own local models. The chapter also aims to reinforce and conclude the main message of the book. There is a need to move beyond universalistic ways and claims of practicing journalism, towards nuanced models that embrace contextual peculiarities of different countries in the Global South.
